COSMETIC GYNAECOLOGY

Cosmetic gynaecology is a subspecialty of elective surgery that focuses on the appearance and function of the vagina and labia. It's a growing field that combines gynaecology, urology, plastic surgery, and dermatology. Cosmetic gynaecology procedures are cosmetic in nature and not medically necessary. They can help repair, restore, and enhance vaginal repairs and sexual functions that occur post-childbirth and aging.

 

Some factors that may contribute to the demand for cosmetic gynaecology include: 

Increased exposure to social media, Idealization of the perfect body and genitalia, and Internet pornography. Some popular procedures include: Laser Reduction Labiaplasty, Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation, and G-Shot shot. Cosmetic gynecology can include non-surgical, minimally surgical, and surgical modalities. Some aesthetic modalities include peels, platelet rich plasma, and energy-based devices. However, there is a lack of serious evidence for the efficacy of many of these procedures. 

 

Some potential risks and complications of cosmetic gynecology include:  pain during, urinary retention, and uterine protrusion through the vagina.
